I started the Metaphysics 1 class at Atlanta Unity church. I really like it. It never occured to me that one could be metaphysical and Christian. I am still not totally sold on the Christian part but the neat thing about Unity is that all they ask is that you suspend your disbelief and not that you have to bite hook line and sinker! One of the things that I really like about the people is that they seem happy and well adjusted overall. I find that metaphysical people of the new age type are not. Or else they are not grounded. Or in denial. Maybe I just haven’t found the right new age community yet.
Anyway-last week we learned about the difference between Absolute reality and Relative reality. Basically-Absolute is things that never change like God(dess)’s love, divine beauty, love and other neat things like that. Relative reality is anything that changes such as our bodies, thoughts, feelings, jobs, bills, health, and more. To achieve happiness we need to switch back and forth between Absolute and Relative reality. It’s helped me because I do sometimes feel, when I am suffering that God/dess is punishing me. This week I focused on presencing myself to Absolute reality and realizing that it is separate from the relative.
I just love having a place to study and discuss spritual matters with people who are in the same type of exploration. Although our beliefs are not exactly the same-they overlap a lot. It’s also helped me to begin to get to know some of the people that attend the church.
So this Goddess is still figuring lots of things out but loving having such a wonderful place to explore!
So the Christians have been in charge for a long time-and now we have based our entire economy on sin. We are waiting for lots of people to make more money so that they can buy more cars, buy more clothes, buy more expensive electronics, eat more, drink more-when commerce picks up-so does the economy. But our commerce-the most lucrative parts of our economy-are all based on sin. The sins are lust, greed, sloth, gluttony, envy, pride, wrath-basically all the things that make our great country profit.
If we all had a transformation and healing and started eating healthy-both portions and quality, not smoking, drinking mostly water, drinking a reasonable amount of alcohol, saving our money, engaging in consensual and healthy sexual relationships, saving our money, not polluting our environment, focusing on creativity and love instead of greed-well literally the entire world economy would collapse. We would still consume- we are human after all-but on a much different scale. Millions of people would be out of work.
So-the Christians preach a good life but still as a society have created an economy that only thrives if the 7 sins are alive and well.
BTW-before you get all upset-I’m not against Christians-I’m married to one in fact. I just think that it’s ironic and something to note. Just as with disease one can choose to over medicate but continue bad habits or change lifestyle and priorities and heal-so we can choose with our society and world.
As a singular Goddess trying to thrive-I do not know how to make this happen-only that the more we focus on true health, joy, passion, bliss, self reliance, love, learning, expression – maybe we can influence the world. I love Kuan Yin-the goddess of compassion, empathy and rebellion-I will pray to her for today!
After several years of fighting with BigBear (hubby) regarding his parents and an incident that I won’t get into here, I finally had a revelation!
I rememembered an episode of Frasier and once I brought it up-BigBear got it! It was a major breakthrough in our relationship. I keep fighting like a Jew-going back to my roots and he, like an uptight Catholic! So his (and his parents) subtle comments are apparently really meaningful and my long angry rants are just a way to get back to love!
For an illumination of this fascinating cultural difference-please watch this 7 minute clip from Frasier. After years of being a fan-Frasier has finally become our therapist.
